If you have come to our website you are no doubt one of our nearly 2200 owners, or you have just begun to investigate the sport.  If you are in the latter category it is easy to get caught up in the potential excitement and make very early (impulse), very many, and very poor decisions.  This can be driven by a lot of information (overload) available over the internet, that unfortunately can be very inaccurate and even dishonest in some instances.

Six Chuter has staked out a reputation that has kept us in business longer than any other manufacturer under original ownership.  That reputation is based on a foundation of honesty and integrity.  Towards that continuing goal we have published an article that can guide you through the decision making process that answers questions that many won’t even raise to you!  These are some key decisions that you must make before you start writing checks to anyone!  Here is a short list:

First Paragon of 2011 Delivered

The first Six Chuter for 2011 was delivered last week to Rick Gutierrez, Seattle Powerchutes LLC Arlington, Washington.

Rick ordered a customized Paragon equipped with the Rotax 912 80 HP engine.  The aircraft includes optional “halo” outrigger system, optional heads up instrument display and was equipped with strobe, position lights and a hard wired Lynx intercom system.

This aircraft is SLSA “Special Light Sport” with full dual controls.  Rick is one or the most active CFIs in the Pacific Northwest and along with his training partners will be very busy with the aircraft this year.  As of January of 2010 ALL dual flight training for sport pilot must be conducted in either an SLSA like Rick’s, or an ELSA with dual controls owned by the student.

The Production Testing included a flawless test flight in sub freezing temperatures at the Arlington airport.  Test pilot Doug Maas reported that between the power of the 912 and the “solid cold air”, performance was spectacular.

Updated Website Improves Parts Order Process

When ordering parts it is important to work closely with our parts and technical support staff.  Six Chuter International has more than 2100 powered parachutes flying around the world and we continue to provide parts for even our earliest models.  However, due to variations in models from year to year and even within model years, we require good information to insure we produce the correct part.

Our staff are in the process of updating our website support to ease the process of ordering parts. An owner looking for parts on ANY model Six Chuter can start on the PARTS page of the website. This page provides important information on who to contact and information to collect before you make the call to our parts technicians.

The website then offers a page for each of our models.  These pages provide diagrams, photos and parts nomenclature.

And there is a section on each page that provides additional information to customers on “other components” such as variances in front steering forks, c.g. tubes and other individual parts.

Paragons Get Work Out at N.W. Rally

Two new Legend Paragons got a great work out at the annual N.W. Powered Parachute Coalition Rally in Lacrosse, Washington this past weekend. Two Paragons were present, one with the standard XL outrigger system and the other with the optional “halo” super high outrigger and attachment system. The Paragons were delivered during the rally to the new owners, Tim Vedder II (President of Six Chuter West LLC), and Charlie Brocksmith, a sport pilot from Nashua Montana.

We also had opportunity to do side-by-side flight comparisons of the standard XL outrigger system and the optional super high outrigger “halo” on one of the units.

The aircraft certainly are meeting or exceeding our expectations.  The performance is awesome, the handling precise, the quality outstanding.

Well the adventure…..

 Trying to get an N-number for my Six Chuter.

The deadline came and went.  We had been in the middle of moving out of state, so the information was lost in the packed boxes some place.  When I did find it, I tried to see if it was still possible to get a registration.  But according to the FAA I could not get an N number because the deadline had past.  I had talked to some other people about what I could do.  I was told  the flyer would just be considered scrap.  I was not happy with what everyone was saying because the machine has only 8 hours on it.  I had e-mailed Six Chuter and happen to get a hold of Doug Maas.  I explained what had happened and was about to just give up.  But he had told me there was another way to get it licensed.  It could be licensed as Experimental Exhibition Category Aircraft,  and gave me a web site to go to and see what it entailed.  I thought I could do  this after looking at the information.  Well after I had contacted the FAA and got the forms sent out to me the fun began.  I needed form 8050-1 and form 805-88.  I filled out the 8050-1 and sent it in with the fee that’s required. They sent it back with some changes I needed to make. little changes like, Six Chuter Inc should not be shown on the manufacturer line, it should only show my name. Also the N number that was just assigned to me on the U.S. identification line.  I thought ok, not a problem.  Now on the kit invoice bill of sale show a corporate or managerial title for the sales associate signing the invoice on behalf of Six Chuter Inc.  I thought Wouldn’t that be the sales rep. who sold it to me? No that wasn’t good enough, because he didn’t have a title other the sales rep. I was getting a little frustrated about now, but I did call down to the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  I talked to a gentleman down there, can’t remember his name.  But he had told me that just putting the title ” sales represenitive ” in front of his name would work.  I made changes and sent it in again.  It came back with now I needed ” Corporate or Managerial title” at this point I contacted Doug again…told him what they were after.  I sent him the letters via e-mail to him to show him what they had wanted.  He in turn contacted Clyde Poser,  Clyde had contacted me telling me he didn’t see why this wasn’t working. If all they asked for is a managerial title.. for Stan Web,  that would be sales representative. I tried this again.  Again, sent back saying it ” Corporate or Managerial title.  Doug…. Help.  I contacted Doug again, this time we thought we’d send the bill of sale to him. He would sign it and put a business card attached to the bill of sale send it back to me.  I then sent it to the FAA.   This time it worked… I received my Registration card.  My thanks goes out to Six Chuter Inc. and especially Doug Maas for all his help.
