Six Chuters In Europe

Joe Kolek On Cover of European Flying Magazine

Here is a message from Joe Kolek, our European Distributor:

Joe continues to work very hard on behalf of Six Chuter to distribute our aircraft in that area of the world.

Dear Doug :

Finaly home from a fantastic journey through Indochina. Every American should go there to see them “at work”, the nations we do not have a chance to compete with …

I am proud to share with you and all the 6Ch enthusiasts that in Europe/CZ (Czech Republic) one of my 6Ch’s there was selected as a drop-off platform to test a performance of numerous reserve chutes conducted by Czech LAA aviation authority (equivalent to FAA here) and 6Ch’s photo appeared on a very front page of Czech “Pilot” magazine, April 2011 issue, together with a story about the event with more photos inside !!! Do you want me to send you an accompanied text translated into English ?

Well, I am very proud of it that at least some “fruits” of my long effort there to educate stubborn Europeans that 6Ch has a multitude of excelent qualities got noticed there …
All three 6Ch I have in EU now are finaly certified; bunch of new red tape there. We’ll be going to EU right after the Memorial weekend so we would meet in Quincy yet. Will you go with us ? … also, I would like to buy from you a couple of those radio pouches and those 6Ch history DVD’s …

Stay in touch and
Have a nice day

Ben Morrow Passes Away

March 26th, 2011

Some Very Sad News Posted by Dan Bailey, Board of Directors Six Chuter International LLC

Ben Morrow Leading EAA Course at Six Chuter Memorial Day Rally 2005

“I awoke this morning to find an email from Joyce Morrow informing me that Ben Morrow passed away suddenly yesterday from a heart attack.

Many of you may not have known Ben as his involvement was in the early formative years of the sport while he was still working for the FAA. I first met Ben in Chicago at a meeting we had there that involved the ppc manufacturers at that time. Later Ben would be instrumental in assisting our company and many of you to gain your Basic Flight Instructors rating. Ben later retired from the FAA but not from his involvement with powered parachutes. He worked tireless hours in the background through his contacts within the FAA and with our manufacturing community to keep us all on track and moving forward.

When it became apparent our company had to align with the new Light Sport regulations, Ben worked voluntarily to help us write our manuals so that we could move through the process with as little pain as possible. Much of what he did over all these years was without compensation as he derived that from his pure love of the sport and the people he met. Still when I think of him, he is as much a pioneer of this sport as anyone I know. More than that he was a gentleman and a great friend. He will be missed.”

Dan Bailey

“I would add that Ben attended numerous Memorial Day fly ins that we had during the ultralight days.  Ben was instrumental in helping our growing group of pilots earn their ultralight instructor and in some cases ultralight examiner ratings through the EAA.  Since we had to renew every two years, Ben was always there for us. There is no way the sport would have grown and thrived in the Western U.S. without Ben’s leadership, teaching, support and as Dan said, pure friendship.”

Six Chuter Paragon 912s

If you have come to our website you are no doubt one of our nearly 2200 owners, or you have just begun to investigate the sport.  If you are in the latter category it is easy to get caught up in the potential excitement and make very early (impulse), very many, and very poor decisions.  This can be driven by a lot of information (overload) available over the internet, that unfortunately can be very inaccurate and even dishonest in some instances.

Six Chuter has staked out a reputation that has kept us in business longer than any other manufacturer under original ownership.  That reputation is based on a foundation of honesty and integrity.  Towards that continuing goal we have published an article that can guide you through the decision making process that answers questions that many won’t even raise to you!  These are some key decisions that you must make before you start writing checks to anyone!  Here is a short list:

  • What type of flying are you most interested in?
  • Would you prefer to fly a simple single seat aircraft or do you envision carrying passengers?
  • What is involved in learning to fly?
  • Do you want to purchase a new aircraft or a used aircraft?
  • Are you a builder, or do you mainly want to just fly?
  • What other expenses are involved in owning a powered parachute?
  • Do you have support available including instructors, flight examiners, qualified maintenance personnel and factory resources?
  • Do you have places to fly and people to fly with?

Many people don’t realize that two-seat powered parachutes haven’t really been in existence for that many years. Dan Bailey, who was there in the early ’90’s working on them with Six Chuter, joins us to talk about how two-seaters were developed. Six Chuter, Inc. (1/18/11)

First Paragon of 2011 Delivered

January 8th, 2011

The first Six Chuter for 2011 was delivered last week to Rick Gutierrez, Seattle Powerchutes LLC Arlington, Washington.

Kiting the Canopy on 2011 Paragon during Production Testing

Rick ordered a customized Paragon equipped with the Rotax 912 80 HP engine.  The aircraft includes optional “halo” outrigger system, optional heads up instrument display and was equipped with strobe, position lights and a hard wired Lynx intercom system.

This aircraft is SLSA “Special Light Sport” with full dual controls.  Rick is one or the most active CFIs in the Pacific Northwest and along with his training partners will be very busy with the aircraft this year.  As of January of 2010 ALL dual flight training for sport pilot must be conducted in either an SLSA like Rick’s, or an ELSA with dual controls owned by the student.

The Production Testing included a flawless test flight in sub freezing temperatures at the Arlington airport.  Test pilot Doug Maas reported that between the power of the 912 and the “solid cold air”, performance was spectacular.

Six Chuter Parts Orders

January 8th, 2011

Updated Website Improves Parts Order Process

When ordering parts it is important to work closely with our parts and technical support staff.  Six Chuter International has more than 2100 powered parachutes flying around the world and we continue to provide parts for even our earliest models.  However, due to variations in models from year to year and even within model years, we require good information to insure we produce the correct part.

Our staff are in the process of updating our website support to ease the process of ordering parts. An owner looking for parts on ANY model Six Chuter can start on the PARTS page of the website. This page provides important information on who to contact and information to collect before you make the call to our parts technicians.

The website then offers a page for each of our models.  These pages provide diagrams, photos and parts nomenclature.

And there is a section on each page that provides additional information to customers on “other components” such as variances in front steering forks, c.g. tubes and other individual parts.

Customers can call our parts technicians directly or via our new toll free number:

Paragons Get Work Out at N.W. Rally

September 28th, 2010

Two new Legend Paragons got a great work out at the annual N.W. Powered Parachute Coalition Rally in Lacrosse, Washington this past weekend. Two Paragons were present, one with the standard XL outrigger system and the other with the optional “halo” super high outrigger and attachment system. Photos and videos have been uploaded to our photo and video site http://sixchuterwest.shutterfly.com/

Twin Paragons Fly By at Lacrosse Rally

The Paragons were delivered during the rally to the new owners, Tim Vedder II (President of Six Chuter West LLC), and Charlie Brocksmith, a sport pilot from Nashua Montana.

We also had opportunity to do side-by-side flight comparisons of the standard XL outrigger system and the optional super high outrigger “halo” on one of the units.

The aircraft certainly are meeting or exceeding our expectations.  The performance is awesome, the handling precise, the quality outstanding.
